AHOP Academy offers a fun, safe place for your dog to exercise, learn and play while you are away!
The school is the largest of its kind serving this area at 800 square feet. The facility is actually comprised of various areas which permit the pet and the staff to execute on the daily curriculum of training, exercise, play and even rest. The "Meet & Greet Seat" allows for the dogs to be welcomed and introduced each morning. After school supplies are organized and stored, attendance is taken and the day begins.
There is a "time out" area that is often used for groups of smaller dogs playing together; permitting two dogs who play exceptionally well together to continue their play; to calm a dog; and even to permit the dogs to cool off and stabilize their body temperature after a round of play or exercise.
As for our open playroom/gym area, this expansive space is ideal for the staff to engage your pet in games such as tag, hide & seek, Mr. & Ms. Manners, Barks & Bubbles and even provides ample space for them to play with facility toys and equipment. Obediance and behavior training is also conducted in this open floor plan setting.
The facility is equipped with webcams which permit pet owners to view the unique activities of their pet throughout the day simply by logging on to the internet with their computer, phone or PDA.
More than any of the fancy equipment or the facility itself, what makes AHOP Academy such a wonderful experience for pets is the staff. The staff members are well-trained and all are pursuing the CPDT (Certified Professional Dog Trainer) certification this Fall. Our staff members at AHOP Academy maintain a degree in behavior/psychology with a keen interest in animal behavior or who have an innate talent for animal conditioning and furthering the bond between pet and owner. Fostering the human-animal bond is a centerpiece for all of the work that is done at AHOP Academy.
AHOP Academy is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm.
Although full day packages are more economical, we do certainly understand and respond to the needs of our customers by offering half day (morning drop off only) packages.
Your first visit is a free day of play to help acquaint you and your pet with our staff. Please check in with the front desk upon arrival and the receptionist will call the Academy Attendant to escort you and your pet into the Day School.
Upon arrival, we will introduce your dog to the Academy staff and let them get a look at the school from our “Meet & Greet Seat”. This is an area that is away from the other dogs, allowing your pet to sniff, smell and explore his new surroundings before we introduce him to any friends. This helps to calm your pet down and rid him of anxiety before meeting playmates.
At this time, we encourage parents to exit the room to allow your pet to get acquainted with the play room. After we feel your dog is ready, we will introduce them to several dogs and eventually they will enter the play room.
During this first visit, we will perform a Temperament Review to evaluate your dog’s play style, personality, and temperament in a group setting.
Upon your return, you will be given a lesson plan that includes the weekly activities at AHOP Academy… outside play, trick of the week and craft! Also, on each weekly lesson plan you will find the log in and password for our nanny cam so you can watch your pooch play while you’re at work.
We do enforce rules while your dog is at AHOP Academy. Without rules, we could not provide a safe, open play-style day school!
First, we ask that all parents call ahead to get your dog on the attendance roster for the specified date(s) you have in mind. This way, we can properly staff the playroom to ensure the safest environment for your four legged friend. Please call at least 24 hours in advance.
Our Day School staff uses basic commands to help ensure good behavior. We practice “sit”, “stay”, “no jump”, “no bark”, “lay down”, etc. We also use several harmless methods to redirect unwanted behavior, such as
To apply, simply download this application, which provides us with your pet’s history and health records.
